"As
a young woman with both feet on the ground in this day and age,
I am happy to be able to bring jazz to people. I know that my music
has
changed a few people's minds about this music and it is important
for
me to communicate my enjoyment from jazz."
Born in Ivory Coast, singer Cécile Verny has been singing
on stage in Europe
since she was 17. Having grown up in both Africa and Europe, she
developed
her personality, her voice and her multifarious, multifaceted way
of singing as
a very individual, unique mixture of her African roots, her European
culture,
and her love for afro-American music.
She is regularly in the studio and on stage in all kinds of groups
and styles
of music, where she enthralls people with her down-to-earth charm.
She has
taught jazz vocals at the State Conservatory in Trossingen, the
Jazz & Rock
School in Freiburg, and at C.E.D.I.M in Strasbourg.
Much praised by fans and critics alike, the singer has been awarded
many
international prizes.
